He became a TV actor a year later, when he appeared in <Nonstop 3>, and quickly became a household name, appearing as one of the leads of <April Kiss> alongside Su Ae in 2004. This was the same year he made the switch to feature films, starring alongside GANG Dong-won and LEE Chung-ah in the youth drama <Romance of Their Own>, which earned him nominations for Best New Actor from the 3rd Korean Film Awards and the 42nd Grand Bell Awards. JO next appeared in the romantic drama <Now and Forever> in 2006, and later that year featured opposite SUL Kyung-gu in the gangster drama <Cruel Winter Blues>, for which he won much acclaim and the Best Supporting Actor prize from the 15th Chunsa Film Art Awards.
