LEE Hyeon-seung directed <Il Mare> (2000), which was remade in Hollywood as <The Lake House> (2006), starring [Sandra Bullock] and [Keanu Reeves]. He set his foot in the door by working for [PARK Chul-soo]. After working as an assistant director to [PARK Kwang-su], he debuted with <Blue in You> (1992), which boasted sensuous and chic visuals that seemed ahead of other contemporary films. Subsequently he participated in several human rights projects by directing human rights films such as a short for the omnibus <If You Were Me 4> (2008) and producing <Fly Penguin> (2009), the first feature film commissioned by the National Human Rights Commission of Korea, directed by [YIM Soon-rye]. LEE also served as an administrator in many capacities, such as being the first commissioner of [Gyeonggi Performing Arts & Film Commission], vice-chairman of [Korean Film Council], and executive director of [Mise-en-scene Short Film Festival] among many. In 2011, LEE presented <Hindsight>, his long-awaited follow-up commercial feature film. Starring [SONG Kang-ho], one of Korea’s leading actors, and [SHIN Se-kyung], who is quickly becoming a household name in Korea, the film depicted the subtle relationship between a retired crime boss and a female assassin trying to kill him.
