In the film <A Petal>(1996), directed by [JANG Sun-woo], LEE Jung-hyun enthusiastically played an insane girl harassed by those around here. Receiving all the new actress awards in the year in which she debuted, she became known as a prominent actress despite her young age. Following that, she debuted as a singer with “Wow” and “Go Change it,” which were on her first album. They were among the greatest hits in the year they were released, and earned her the title “A Female Warrior of Techno Music.” With the release of an album a year, she has firmly established herself as a singer. In 2000, she entered the Chinese market and has created a Korean Wave boom there as a singer and actress. Her popularity in China was proved when she almost got a role in a TV commercial that eventually went to [Zhang Zi Yi], one of the top stars in China. Since opening for Lady Gaga in Korea, she is now planning to enter the U.S. market with Gaga's help. Recently, LEE appeared in a short film directed by [PARK Chan-wook] and shot with an iPhone 4 that will make it to the Berlin Film Festival this year. In 2012, LEE made a big comeback, showing a new depth as a performer in <Juvenile Offender>, which debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival. She followed this up with blockbuster <Roaring Currents> and another lead role in indie smash <Alice in Earnestland>, which won her the Best Actress prize at the Blue Dragon Awards and Wildflower Film Awards Korea.
