Ahn Sunkyoung majored in Philosophy at Kyung Hee University before studying at the Korean Academy of Film Arts. She debuted in 2009 with A Blind River (2009), a feature film that was invited to the International Competition, Zurich Film Festival. She later received the New Currents Award at the Busan International Film Festival with Pascha (2013) and the Best Director Award in Korean Cinema Today-Vision, Busan International Film Fesetival.
