After serving as a script editor on the 2005 feature <A Bold Family>, KIM Young-tak received his first full writing credit on the 2008 hit melodrama <Ba: Bo>, featuring CHA Tae-hyun as a simpleton who is befriended by a kind girl played by HA Ji-won. Following that success, KIM prepared another screenplay and was also granted his first opportunity to direct in 2010. That film was <Hello Ghost>, and paired him up again with funny man CHA. The star played a young man who develops an unwanted ability to commune with the dead as ghosts invade his life asking for help. The comedy was a local hit and was later developed as a vehicle for Hollywood star Adam Sandler. KIM paired up with CHA once more on the 2014 comedy <Slow Video>, in which the actor played a man with an ability to catch small details as a strange condition allows him to see time slowed down. The film was produced by 20th Century Fox but failed to match the height of his previous works.
