Born in 1972, KIM Yeo-jin started acting in the play <What Do Women Live For> (1995). She was quickly noticed by IM Sang-soo who then offered her the leading role in his debut feature <Girls’ Night Out> (1998) and managed to win the Blue Dragon Awards for Best New Actress for her very first big screen appearance. She went on to work with other prominent Korean filmmakers, with roles in LEE Chang-dong’s unanimously celebrated <A Peppermint Candy> (1999) and IM Kwon-taek’s no less famous title <Chihwaseon> (2002). The latter even earned KIM another acting award, this time the Grand Bell Award for Best Supporting Actress. She has been mostly active on television and started being more present on stage as well since 2010. In recent years, she distinguished herself as a vocal political activist who showed her support to labor strikes and joined demonstrations opposing governmental projects, which even led her to be banned for a time by a major TV and radio network. After several years away from the big screen, she came back in 2018 as one of the leads in the indie drama <Last Child> (2017).
