Review

`121231Actor YOO Ji-tae still aspires to be a director, and has already made 4 short films - ‘The Bike Boy’ (2003), ‘What Kind of Dream the Blind Dream of?’ (2005), ‘Out of My Intention’ (2008), and ‘Invitation’ (2009) - and then finally makes his feature film directorial debut with this film. Taking coming-of age as the main motif in his previous films, this film also deals with the growth of a runaway (BAE Soo-bin) and a woman from the Philippines. As YOO always mentioned “I wanted to make a meaningful film out of the law of capital”, this film casts a Filipino woman, who is ostracized in Korean society, in one of the leading roles. As the flower Sansevieria means “tolerance”, the director YOO will deliver episodes of conflict and reconciliation of the two races and different cultures along with their journey.
