The Association of Korean Independent Film & Video is a non-profit association of independent film professionals established in 1998. With members consisting of directors, producers, distributors, film critics, and representatives of cinemas and festivals, the association aims to foster the exchange of information among professionals, develop policy ideas in favor to the independent film industry, and financially support the production and distribution of independent films. It organizes the Seoul Independent Film Festival in collaboration with the Korean Film Council every year since 1999, and launched in 2001 the Seoul Independent DOcumentary Film Festival. It also holds since 1998 its own awards ceremony during which the winners of Best Independent Film and Best Independent Film Professional are announced.
