  • HONG Sang-soo tops Cine21’s picks of 2011

  • South Korea’s leading film and entertainment magazine <Cine21> has picked Hong Sang-soo’s <The Day He Arrives> as the Best Film of 2011. In their annual survey, the magazine’s 33 journalists and critics also picked Hong as the Best Director of the Year.
     
    Rounding out the magazine’s other 2011 selections, TANG Wei (<Late Autumn>) was named Best Actress, Best Actor went to KIM Yoon-seok (<The Yellow Sea>, <Punch>), Best Producer was given to Jaime SHIM (<Leafie: a Hen Into the Wild>), Best Director of Photography went to KIM Woo-hyoung (also known as KIM Woo-hyeong) for <The Front Line> and <Late Autumn>, and Best Scriptwriter went to PARK In-je for <Moby Dick>, which was also named the year’s most underrated film.
     
    Best New Director went to YOON Sung-hyun for <Bleak Night>, Best New Actress went to YOO Da-in for <Re-encounter> and LEE Je-hoon was named Best New Actor for his performances <The Front Line> and <Bleak Night>.
