  • Secret Agent Is Actor SONG Kang-ho’s Fourth KIM Jee-woon Film

Warner Brothers is gearing up for its first local production in Korea, Secret Agent (a.k.a. Miljeong).

Warner Bros. has therefore become the second major Hollywood studio to greenlight a Korean-language movie, following Fox’s Intimate Enemies, Slow Video and Running Man and its involvement in The Yellow Sea.

Set in 1930’s Korea, the film is known to be directed by KIM Jee-woon, one of the few Korean filmmakers with Hollywood experience, starring one of Korea’s most widely appreciated actors SONG Kang-ho, who is also director KIM’s long term collaborator since 1998’s The Quiet Family, and GONG Yoo (The Suspect), will be SONG’s acting partner.

Secret Agent is known to have a tentative production budget of KRW 10 billion (USD 8.5 million), which is currently being fully financed by the studio. Currently set as a co-venture between Warner and director Kim’s Grimm Pictures, Warner will handle the Korean theatrical release.

Production is set to begin in October, with locations including Korea and China.
