Warner Brothers is gearing up for its first local production in Korea, Secret Agent (a.k.a. Miljeong).
Set in 1930’s Korea, the film is known to be directed by
KIM Jee-woon, one of the few Korean filmmakers with Hollywood experience, starring one of Korea’s most widely appreciated actors
SONG Kang-ho, who is also director KIM’s long term collaborator since 1998’s
The Quiet Family, and
GONG Yoo (
The Suspect), will be SONG’s acting partner.
Secret Agent is known to have a tentative production budget of KRW 10 billion (USD 8.5 million), which is currently being fully financed by the studio. Currently set as a co-venture between Warner and director Kim’s Grimm Pictures, Warner will handle the Korean theatrical release.
