YI Seung-Jun’s <Planet of Snail> won the top prize at the 24th International Documentary Festival Amsterdam (IDFA). The film won the VPRO IDFA Award for Best Feature-Length Documentary which comes with a cash prize of €12,500.

 

<Planet of Snail> also sold to UK distributor Dogwoof and is expected to have a theatrical release there in the coming months.

 

Part poetry and realistic romance, the documentary is about a young man who began to lose his sight and hearing in childhood but eventually meets a kindred spirit and falls in love. The film won accolades even before completion, receiving production grants from Sundance and the EBS 9.
