  • The Korean Film Council (KOFIC) announced successful results from the 24th Tokyo International Film Festival and 8th TIFFCOM market.

KOFIC held a presentation regarding Korea’s KW100 billion (US$90 million) Global Contents Fund and its Location Incentive Systems. LEE Dongwoo, one of the producers who worked on <Hakuji No Hito>, the first film to benefit from KOFIC’s 25% locations incentive, was also on hand to discuss his experience.

Ko-production in Tokyo, co-organized by KOFIC and TIFFCOM, presented five Korea-Japan co-production projects, including KIM Young-nam’s road movie <Minds on Tide> and PARK Jeong-suk’s documentary <My Two Mommies>. KOFIC’s umbrella stand at TIFFCOM also saw an estimated US $700,000 worth of film sales deals closed on 20 films, including <Couples> and <War of the Arrows>.
