While he is busy finishing his first Hollywood feature Stoker, set to be released next March, another project with PARK Chan-wook’s name attached to it has been announced in the US. Oscar-winner Charlize THERON is set to step into LEE Young-ae’s shoes as she takes on the titular character in a remake of Sympathy For Lady Vengeance (2005), the third film in PARK’s famed vengeance trilogy which also includes Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance (2002) and Old boy (2003).

CJ Entertainment has teamed with Hollywood-based Annupurna Pictures as well as Theron’s Denver & Delilah to produce the project about a woman who seeks revenged after taking the fall for another’s crimes. Sympathy For Lady Vengeance will be adapted by William Monaghan, who previously collected an academy award for his work on The Departed (2006).

PARK’s name has been a frequent presence in the news lately. He is a producer on BONG Joon-ho’s much-anticipated Snow Piercer and was also offered a pair of new Hollywood projects to direct, the western The Brigands of Rattleborge and the Mediterranean gangster pic Corsica ’72.
