Three people, a mid-ranking gang member KWAK Jin-bae, SHIM Mi-jin, a member of the national archery and KWON Jeong-hyuk, a police officer at the Seodaemun Police Station come together. One thing in common between them is the fact that they are all offsprings of people who were killed during the Gwangju Massacre of 18th May. KIM Gap-se, head of a large security and surveillance corporation, is the person who brought them together. KIM has a project for them involving "the man", the person responsible for the Gwangju massacre. The D-day for the project is 18th May, 2006.

26 Years is from KANG Pool who is said to be Korea's best storyteller and it's based on the webtune of the same name. When it was first shown on the Internet, the audience reaction was very strong thanks to its tight narrative, exciting storyline and the way it moved the readers. The webtune broke numerous records with 20 million hits per day on average. There have been four attempts between 2008 and the present time to create a film with the title 26 Years  but to no avail. A new way of producing this film was adopted, by way of collecting funds from the general public which made it possible for the film to be released soon.

This new format, whose literal translation from Korean to English is "Production Collective" makes it possible for a film to be made without funding from large corporations. It is an unsual way to make films with audience members putting in money. The collection began on 25th June and ended on 20th October and the amount of money collected is 700 million won with over 20 thousand taking part. This makes 26 Years  a very special film.

CHO Geun-hyun was art director for Concubine, My Way, Duelist, Two Sisters and Forbidden Quest. 26 Years is set to excite the entire country of Korea, becoming the story that everyone should know about, as the presidential election approaches.
