    Synopsis

Corporal JUNG Cheol-min's squad who live in windowless barracks is said to be the best in the unit. This all changes when private HONG Young-soo joins their squad. Corporal Jung tries his best to make Hong into a soldier fit for his exemplary squad but Hong doesn't seem to be able to adjust, causing a severe dent to Jung's spotless reputation. Corporal Jung starts to exert violence on Hong and the latter attempts suicide.

Director YEON Sang-ho caused a sensation both in and out of Korea last year with The King of the Pigs. This time he has made a short animation of 29 minutes. It's a film that depicts violence that occur in a big organization called the military and inner feelings of indivuals are shown through this violence. This film is based on an omnibus cartoon series produced by the National Human Rights Council of Korea and YEON has turned it into an animation. It was screened at the Cinema Digital Seoul Film Festival and the Indie Ani Fest last year and got  great responses.

One very important aspect of the film is that it will be the first film to be released simultaneously at Indiespace, a theater devoted to screenig of independet movies, and on Indieplug, being the first one of its Independent Short Film Release Projects. This project has the aim of simultaneously releasing short films of less than 60 minutes in length at the theater and online. Whereas before, independently made films that were screened were mainly features and short films only got to be screened at one-off screenings, this new project will enable independent short films to be screened on a more regular basis and meet audiences.

The Independent Short Film Release Project, with The Window as its first project, has the aim of expanding the interest base of short films as well as creating a new audience culture for shorts. The Window  will be screened from 1st November at Indiespace and online at www.indieplug.net.
