A producer of current affairs TV program NA Nam-su (LEE Sang-yun), who is out of work for a while, gets a dairy from KANG Su-a (KANG Ye-won). She insists to be imprisoned in psychiatric hospital where costed many lives from a mysterious fire. Nam-su tries to meet Su-a, but she is in jail on suspension of murder, and unexpected truth is revealed as Nam-su investigates the case. According to her diary, she has been illegally imprisoned in the medical hospital by somebody that she doesn’t know, and physically abused and injected drug by doctors.  

INSANE is the film about a social issue which was reported on the local current affairs program. It is that anyone can be imprisoned with two protectors and a doctor’s consent regardless of one’s will or even legality. It was disclosed that some hospitals which made bad use of this have been subsidized by the government for a long time.

However, INSANE is more like genre film than social movie. It is a thriller which searches for the truth, crossing the past and the present, and putting together broken information. The film was directed by LEE Cheol-ha, who has made various genres like a romance Love Me Not (2006), a horror The Haunted House Project (2010) and a documentary Hello?! Orchestra (2013).
