A poet named Lee Yong-han one day happens to see a street cat near his home, and begins to take an interest in the small community of cats in his neighborhood. He begins to take pictures of their daily lives, and keep a journal of how the cats sometimes change or disappear. He eventually publishes his journal as a book, titled “Hello and Thank You, Cats.” Yoon Gi-hyeong was working as a director of TV commercials when he came across Lee’s book. He begins to follow the street cats in his own neighborhood, giving them food and water, photographing and filming them, and eventually feeling some sense of accomplishment through this work. He later catches up with Lee, who has moved neighborhoods, but taken one of the street cats with him, who is now making friends with the local cats in his new environment. <Dancing Cat> warmly demonstrates that themes of community, care, and friendship transcend the human-animal divide.

Director Yoon Gi-hyeong was awarded the grand prize at the Korean Film Council Script Market for his script <Mart Kids>. He is also author of the book “The One Card You Must Have.” <Dancing Cat> is his first feature.
