The film, Confidential Assignment2: International, topped the weekend box office in the second week of its release. According to the Korean Box Office Information System (KOBIS) of the Korean Film Council (KOFIC) on September 19 (Monday), Confidential Assignment2: International continued to run top without competitors, with 916,357 audiences and 74.2% of sales over the weekend from September 16 to 18. In the second week of its release, Confidential Assignment2: International maintained its No. 1 daily box office for 12 consecutive days, recording 4,732,480 audiences in total. Also, it has surpassed 3.5 million audiences, the break-even point, within a week of its release, cruising toward 5 million viewers.
The dark horse film 6/45 also maintained its 2nd place in the box office on weekends. Over the weekend, 6/45 had 121,990 audiences with 9.8% sales. The total audience for 6/45, which kept 2nd place in the box office on weekends for 2 consecutive weeks, is 1,837,654.
The leap in animation is also noticeable. The Korean animation, KATURI the Movie: The Big City Adventure, which attracted 38,003 viewers over the weekend, is doing well with 139,964 audiences in total. Director Lee Jungjae's Hunt, which continues to be a long-term hit, stepped down to 4th place with 24,693 weekend audiences and 4,327,677 audiences in total.
Meanwhile, Top Gun: Maverick, which was released on June 22 and has been a long-running hit for 3 months, was ranked 5th, one step up from last week. The number of weekend audiences is 14,650, and the total number of audiences is 8,156,319. Re-released during the Chuseok holiday, Aladdin was ranked 6th, The Black Phone starring Ethan Hawk 7th, and Vita Dolce 9th, a film featuring singer Kim Hojoong's performance released on September 7.
On a weekly basis, the number of moviegoers from September 12 to 18 was 2,815,207, and from September 16 to 18, it was 1,225,794. By September 18, 2022, the market share of Korean films was 57.2%, while that of overseas films recorded 42.8%.
