In cooperation with the UNESCO Bureau of Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Film Bureau of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korean Film Council (KOFIC, Chairperson Park Kiyong) will hold a Vietnam-Korea film exchange event at CGV Myeongdong Station Cine Library for 3 days from December 2 to 4 to promote exchanges in the Korean-Vietnam film field.

The event is designed to introduce excellent films from the two countries to domestic audiences and promote exchanges in the film sector to mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Korea and Vietnam. At 6:30 p.m. on December 2, the event will be held with a welcoming speech by Park Kiyong, Chairperson of KOFIC and Nguyen Vu Tung, Vietnamese Ambassador to Korea, and the free screening for the general audience will run for 3 days from December 2 to 4, including the opening screening. Audiences who want to participate in the event can enter after receiving tickets at CGV Myeongdong Station’s on-site ticket office.

Including the opening films, the feature MY Superstar Teacher (directed by Duc Thinh), and the short animation Spring Roll Dream (directed by Mai Vu), 10 films in total will be screened during the event: The film The Girl from Yesterday (directed by Phan Gian Nhat Linh), which gained hot responses in Vietnam and 2 more feature films, 4 short films that represent the young directors and their fresh views in Vietnam, and 2 short films by Korean new directors chosen by the Vietnam-Korea Cultural Exchange Support Project.

Meanwhile, the Korean Cinema Special Exhibition at the Hanoi International Film Festival, which was held in Hanoi, Vietnam from November 8 to 12, was successfully hosted by KOFIC and the Film Bureau of the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. 7 Korean films, including the top-notch films that gained attention from a number of international film festivals and local audiences this year, such as Decision to Leave, Broker, and The Novelist’s Film, met local audiences. Also, along with CJ ENM, CJ CGV, and Lotte Entertainment, the industrial experts that advanced to Vietnam, KOFIC held a conference on the current status of the Korean film industry and the direction of the global film industry.

With the Vietnam-Korea film exchange event held in November and December, KOFIC will further expand communication channels between the two governments and film industry officials. Besides, KOFIC will seek cooperation to advance Korean films into the Vietnamese market and promote exchanges between filmmakers of the two countries.
