The upcoming crime drama Bogota (literal title), starring SONG Joong-ki and LEE Hee-jun, is expected to resume production overseas in July. The film initially began shooting in Colombia last year but while in the middle of production they were forced to halt filming owing to the global spread of COVID-19.
Approximately 90% of the film needs to be shot on location in Colombia and around 40% of that was completed last year. The remainder of the location shoot is expected to resume in July, while studio shoots in Korea will take place in May and June.
Bogota is the sophomore film of The Unfair (2015) director KIM Sung-je and takes place in the 1990s, following a group of youths who emigrate to Colombia. The film is being produced by Watermelon Pictures, while Megabox Plus M is the financier and distributor.
Known for A Werewolf Boy (2012) and the TV drama Descendants of the Sun, SONG Joong-ki recently appeared in the sci-fi action film SPACE SWEEPERS, which bowed on Netflix this year, and is currently on air in the tvN drama Vincenzo.
Co-star LEE Hee-jun is also currently on air in the tvN serial killer thriller Mouse. He is most well known for his film roles, such as 1987: When the Day Comes (2017) and Miss Baek (2018).
