SECOND LIFE Director Embarks on Commercial Debut
RA Mi-ran and YEOM Hye-ran are due to join forces after teaming up for the upcoming voice phishing-themed feature Citizen Dokhee (translated title). The project will mark the commercial debut of Second Life (2018) director PARK Young-ju.
Based on real events, the film follows a housewife in her 40s who becomes the victim of voice phishing and then uses every method at her disposal to take down the boss of the criminal organisation that targeted her.
Former character actress RA Mi-ran has been enjoying a newfound position as one of the industry’s go-to leading actresses, following the success of several high-concept comedy vehicles tailored to her appealing larger-than-life persona. She headlined the buddy cop comedy Miss & Mrs. Cops last year and was most recently seen in the election fantasy comedy HONEST CANDIDATE, one of the last major films to open prior to the current health crisis.
Director PARK Young-ju is known for the independent film Second Life (2018), which debuted in the New Currents competition section of the Busan International Film Festival, and her prior student short 1 KILOGRAM, which screened in the Cinefondation section of the Cannes Film Festival in 2016.
Owing to the Covid-19, a shooting start date for Citizen Dokhee has yet to be determined but preparations for the project are ongoing.
