JANG Hyun-sung Signs on to KILL ME NOW
CHOI Equan Returns to the Director’s Chair
Actor JANG Hyun-sung has taken on his latest challenge, as the lead in the new film Kill Me Now (working title), a feature adaption of the play of the same name which JANG has also performed in on stage. The project is being directed and produced by CHOI Equan and production is currently underway, having started in the town of Chuncheon in Gangwon Province in late March.
Kill Me Now, which is based on a play written by Brad Fraser, is the story of a man who makes sacrifices for his teenage son, but unbeknownst to him, his son has plans to move away, while the father is harboring his own secret. The whole story is set and shot in Chuncheon.
JANG has been active on the big screen since the late 1990s and some of his major roles include the SONG Il-gon films Spider Forest (2004) and The Magicians (2006), as well as co-starring roles in a range of commercial projects, such as Hwayi: A Monster Boy (2013) and Steel Rain (2017).
Director CHOI is known for The Voice (2005), the third entry in the popular Whispering Corridors horror series as well as well as Life is Cool (2008) and Mama (2011). Following these he spent several years as the head of the Korean Academy of Film Arts (KAFA), after having graduated from there in the 1990s. He most recently made the portmanteau drama roooom, which debuted at the Jeonju International Film Festival in 2018.
