Specialty distributor Mirovision brought a large lineup of low-budget titles to Berlin for the European Film Market (EFM). From co-productions and arthouse titles to horror and queer cinema, the sales agent is covering several niches with their slate.

One of the company’s main titles at EFM is Colors of Wind (2017), the Japan-Korea co-production that is the latest film from My Sassy Girl (2001) director KWAK Jae-yong. This story of magicians, identity and a love triangle in Northern Japan debuted at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BiFan) last summer and stars FURUKAWA Yuki and FUJII Takemi.

LIM Jin-seung’s new film Outdoor Begins (2017) debuted at the Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival before screening in BiFan last year. A campsite slasher horror-comedy, the picture stars JO Duk-je, Yeong-geon and YEON Song-ha.

The debut of director ZEA Sung Won, Sooni: The Executioner’s Daughter stars KIM In-kwon as a detective who investigates a series of strange killings in a small village. The film is currently in post-production.

One of two MIN Byung-kook films last year, A Living Being premiered at the Jeonju International Film Festival. A mystic art film about an elderly man suffering from Alzheimer’s on Jeju Island, the film had a market screening in EFM and features YANG Dong-keun and LEE Il-hwa.

The company also had screenings for the university-set queer drama Black Summer (2017), which debuted at the Busan International Film Festival last year, and the revenge drama BROTHERS IN HEAVEN, which screened at the Hiroshima International Film Festival late last year.

Mirovision is also repping several new horror titles from Mourning Grave (2014) director OH In-chun, including Nightscape, Wol-ha : Very Bad Moon Rising (2017) and The DMZ.

Beyond distribution, Mirovision is also focusing on production these days, with several projects currently in development. These include E J-yong’s thriller The Big Picture, which will take part in the Hong Kong Asian Financing Market (HAF) next month, and YIM Soon-rye’s Lee Jung Seop, a biopic of the painter of the same name. Both projects are expected to go into production this year.
