ALONG WITH THE GODS Filming Ends, Release Pushed to December

Two-Part Fantasy Epic Assembles Enormous Cast
 

Lotte Entertainment’s two-part fantasy epic Along with the Gods brought its simultaneous production to an end after a marathon 10 month filming schedule, which included 175 shooting days, on March 22nd. Despite an earlier commitment to a summer release date, the long production process and intensive post-production demands on the CGI-heavy work have delayed the release of the first installment to December 2017.

Director KIM Yong-hwa (Take Off, 2009) assembled a large cast for the webtoon-based project, including HA Jung-woo (The Yellow Sea, 2010), CHA Tae-hyun (My Sassy Girl, 2001), JU Ji-hoon (Asura : The City of Madness, 2016), LEE Jung-jae (Assassination, 2015), Don LEE (TRAIN TO BUSAN, 2016) and OH Dal-su (Veteran, 2015) among many others. 

Based on a webcomic by JU Ho-min, the story concerns a character who dies and the angel of death who escorts him to the afterworld. Once there, he goes through seven trials during of 49 days. HA Jung-woo plays the angel of death who becomes involved in human affairs even when he isn’t supposed to, and CHA Tae-hyun features as the recently departed.

Also revealed were more cast members, particularly the stars playing the judges of the heavens, which include KIM Hae-sook (The Thieves, 2012), KIM Ha-neul (Blind, 2011), LEE Gyoung-young (Inside Men, 2015), KIM Su-an (TRAIN TO BUSAN), JANG Kwang (Silenced, 2011), JEONG Hae-gyoon (Missing You, 2016).

The second part of Along with the Gods will follow in summer 2018. Both films are produced by Realies Pictures, behind 2012’s period smash hit Masquerade.
