IM Chang-jung Takes a ROMAN HOLIDAY

New Korean Thriller from Director LEE Duk-hee

Singer and actor IM Chang-jung has selected his next film project, which will be the thriller Roman Holiday, which is unrelated to Hollywood classic of the same name. Production kicks off this month with a quick release planned for next May. IM will play the lead in a tale of a trio of men, whose lives of abject poverty push them toward crime.

The film will mark the second directorial outing of LEE Duk-hee, who previously partnered with IM on his feature debut Tumbleweed, which bowed at the Busan International Film Festival in 2012. Prior to that, he worked as an assistant director on HUR Jin-ho’s One Fine Spring Day (2001), SONG Hae-sung’s Failan (2001) and the gangster comedy My Boss, My Hero (2001). Tumbleweed was seen by 430,000 viewers (USD 2.75 million) in Korean theaters in the fall of 2013.

IM was last seen in a cameo role in SHIN Dong-yeob’s martial arts action title Dual: Final Round while his last lead role was in Untouchable Lawmen (2015), also from director SHIN. IM debuted as an actor almost 20 years ago in KIM Sung-soo’s youth gangster film Beat (1997) alongside JUNG Woo-sung, and has become a major player in the recent years, in comedies (Sex Is Zero, 2002), romantic comedies (Miracle on 1st Street, 2007) and thrillers (Traffickers, 2012).
