Jackie CHAN Co-Production Kicks Off in Busan

CHANG at the Helm of FATAL COUNTDOWN: RESET

Global superstar Jackie CHAN, the second-highest paid actor in the world in 2015 according to Forbes, has taken a supervisory executive role on the new Korean-Chinese co-production Fatal Countdown: Reset, which recently began shooting in Busan.

The science fiction project marks the third directorial outing of Korean filmmaker CHANG, whose last film, the action-thriller The Target, debuted as part of the midnight lineup of the Cannes Film Festival in 2014. He debuted with the popular 2008 horror title Death Bell.

Leading the cast of the story is Chinese performers YANG Mi as a mother and scientist who travels back to the past to rescue her kidnapped son. YANG is known for her work in popular Chinese romance titles such as the Tiny Times series (2013-15), You Are My Sunshine and the recent Blind (2011) remake The Witness. Co-starring alongside YANG is Taiwanese TV actor and singer Wallace HUO.

Working behind the scenes on the project are a number of top quality Korean technicians, such as cinematographer CHOI Chan-min (KUNDO: Age of the Rampant, 2014), production designer CHO Hwa-sung (Inside Men, 2015), music director BANG Jun-seok, who picked up The Blue Dragon Awards for his work on The Throne last year, and editor KIM Sang-bum (Veteran, 2015; The Throne).

The film is a partnership between Korean outfit The Lamp Films, which developed the script and hired the Korean crew, and Chinese companies New Clues Film and Jaywalk Studios (collaborators on The Witness), who handled financing and will also take care of marketing and distribution. The film is reportedly the most expensive Korean-Chinese project yet.
