Hitmaker Retrospective at 9th Edition
For its 9th edition, which took place over November 27th to 29th last year, the Korean Film Festival in Cambodia staged a special retrospective featuring five works from acclaimed filmmaker
LEE Joon-ik. Taking place at the Legend Cinema in Toul Kork and with director LEE present as a guest, the festival was staged by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Cambodia as part of their plan for cultural exchange between both nations in 2015.
Opening the event was LEE’s most recent film, the hit period drama
The Throne, featuring
SONG Kang-ho as a king who ordered his own son, played by
YOO Ah-in, to be locked in a rice chest. The film accrued 6.25 million admissions (USD 40.78 million) and was put forward as the Korean contender for the foreign language category of this year’s Academy Awards.
