The youth comedy Twenty, starring KIM Woo-bin, is set to grace screens in Japan on November 28th, courtesy of distributor NBC Universal Japan. Following its Korean debut in March, where it accrued 3.04 million viewers (USD 20.13 million), the film has gone on to screen in the United States, where it grossed USD 136,125 in April, in addition to receiving an invitation to the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF) in June.

 

A tale of three high school friends and their divergent paths following graduation, Twenty marks the second directorial outing for LEE Byoung-hyun, who debuted with the indie dramedy Cheer Up Mr. Lee, a Jeonju International Film Festival competitor in 2013.

 

The cast features three big names, led by redhot star KIM Woo-bin, who has developed a massive fanbase following leading roles in Friend: The Great Legacy (2013) and The Con Artists, not to mention a number of popular Korean TV dramas and umpteen sponsorship deals. Joining him on screen are rising star KANG Ha-neul and 2PM (Korean boy band) member LEE Jun-ho.

 

Demonstrating appeal across Asia, the film was also purchased by distributors in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam earlier this year. Twenty was financed and distributed domestically by Next Entertainment World (NEW) and is being repped internationally by Contents Panda.
