PARK Jung-bum’s MONK and MA Min-ji’s BUBBLE FAMILY Lead Jeonju Project Market Awards

10 Awards Handed Out at Close of 7th Edition
 

At the conclusion of its 7th edition last night (May 3), the Jeonju Project Market handed out ten awards to new fiction and documentary projects that were pitched during Jeonju international Film Festival over the weekend. Leading the honor roll were PARK Jung-bum’s new project Monk, which took the Grand Prize in Feature Film Pitching, and MA Min-ji’s Bubble Family, which was awarded the Documentary Film Pitching Grand Prize.
 
PARK, whose most recent film Alive was one of last year’s Jeonju Cinema Projects, was awarded by a jury consisting of WON Dong-yun, LEE Sang-yong and JEONG Yoon-chul, who referred to Monk as a ‘high-quality drama with vivid characters’ engaged in an impressive tug-of-war between truth and lies.’
 
In addition, TV5MONDE Awards (worth USD 5,000 each) were handed to CHO Hong-jun’s Kawha in the feature section and KIM Jung-in’s Her Album in the documentary pitches. The jury for the feature section also gave Curtain Call (produced by CHOI Seungho) the Excellence Award while Kawha also picked up an Audience Award. Meanwhile the documentary jury gave their Excellence Award to JANG Hyo-bong’s The Wolf in the Fence. Her Album also picked up the documentary Audience Award.
 
The night also included Rising Cinema Showcase awards for filmmakers presenting work in the Korea Cinemascape section at JIFF. These included a Distribution Support Award (which include USD 10,000 of distribution grants and a one month booking at a Jeonju theater) for AHN Seul-ki’s Under the Sun and an Audience Award for Kim’s Dilcusha-Life Goes on by KIM Tae-yeong, LEE Sea-young.
