HAN GONG-JU and STEEL COLD WINTER to Compete in Deauville

5 Korean Films Invited to Asian Film Fest
 

The Deauville Asian Film Festival has announced the program for its 16th edition, which will feature five features from Korea this year. Among those, Han Gong-ju and Steel Cold Winter will vie in competition in France.
 
Following top prizes at the Marrakesh and Rotterdam International Film Festivals, LEE Su-jin’s debut feature Han Gong-ju is forging ahead on the festival trail with a fresh invited to compete in Deauville. The film premiered at the Busan International Film Festival, where it picked up the CGV Movie Collage and Citizen Reviewer’s Awards last October. Another a Busan premiere, CHOI Jin-sung’s debut Steel Cold Winter will also compete in Deauville.
 
An additional three Korean films will screen out of competition. These include HONG Sangsoo’s most recent feature Our Sunhi, SHIN Su-won’s Pluto and YEON Sangho’s The Fake. All three films have featured prominently on the international circuit since their respective Locarno (Silver Leopard for Best Director winner), Busan and Toronto International Film Festival debuts.
 
YOO Ji-tae’s debut film Mai Ratima earned a Jury Prize during last year’s edition. The 16th edition of the Deauville Asian Film Festival will take place from March 5th to 9th.
