6th KOFIC Chairman Begins Term

KIM Sae-hoon to Lead Korean Film Council
 

The new Chairman of the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), KIM Sae-hoon, had his official inauguration on January 5th at council’s Busan main office.
 
On December 31st, KIM Jong-deok, the Minister of Culture, Sports & Tourism, appointed KIM Sae-hoon, an animation professor from Sejong University, as well as new council members professor KIM Jong-kook, production designer SHIN Bo-kyeong and producer PARK Jae-woo.
 
At the inauguration, Chairman KIM said, “I aim to take particular care of and interest in the globalization of Korean films.” He added, “I will also make sure to look after some of the current issues in the industry including achieving a fair working environment.”
 
The new council members of KOFIC are young professionals from the field who plan to tackle improvements in the staffing sector, working environment, competitiveness of family films, global exports and qualitative growth.
 
Minister KIM Jong-deok said, “It is an important time for the industry and we look forward to the changes and improvements the new members will bring to the council through ongoing communication with those on site, while applying their expertise and experiences for the better of the industry.”
 
The new Chairman’s term will stretch from December 31st of 2014 to December 30th of 2017, while the new council members’ terms started on the same day but end a year earlier on December 30th, 2016.
