Korean Film Council to hold ‘Korean Film Night’ at the 69th Venice Film Festival

Korean Film Council (KOFIC) is going to hold ‘Korean Film Night’ at the 69th Venice International Film Festival. The purpose of the event is to cheer for
KIM Ki-duk and his film
Pieta, which was nominated in the fest's official international competition section 'Venezia 69,' as well as
JEON Kyu-hwan and his film
The Weight, which is the first Korean film ever to be featured in the sidebar ‘Venice Days’ program.
Chairman
KIM Eui-suk will participate in the event, meeting foreign press members, buyers and other figures working with renowned international film festivals and film markets who will be visiting Venice. TAE Eun-jeong of KOFIC's Global Marketing Team explained, “This event will provide a place for dialogue about Korean film, introduce the Korean films invited to this year's festival to participatjng cineastes and hopefully increase the possibility that
Pieta can win a prize as well as generally increase awareness about the film.”
It has been seven years since a Korean film was invited to the official international competition section of the Venice International Film Festival. In 2004, KIM Ki-duk won the Best Director Award with 3-Iron at the festival.
‘Korean Film Night’ at the 69th Venice Film Festival will take place at the Excelsior Hotel from 9 to 11pm on Wednesday September 5th.
