The Korean Film Council (KOFIC) has put online the March issue of the <Korean Cinema Today> webzine. This month’s top story features interviews with the Korean directors participating in the upcoming Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF).
Director JEON Soo-il will be at HAF next week with France-set mystery drama <Another Country> while director KIM Baek-jun will be presenting his high school violence drama <Monsters> and LEE Hae-jun will be there with his project <My Dictator>, about a failing actor who gets to play the role of KIM Il-sung in highly charged North-South summit rehearsals. All three directors talked with <Korean Cinema Today> writers about their projects respectively.
The webzine this month also features an interview with <Planet of Snail> director YI Seung-jun about his award-winning documentary about a deaf and blind man and his wife with a spinal disability.
Another interview is with recent Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival Grand Prix winner YOON Ga-eun about her film <Guest>.
This month’s issue also has a guest column from Tokyo-based writer Jason GRAY, examining the fluctuations of the Korean Wave (also known as “Kanryu”) in Japan.
In addition, the webzine is rounded out by the usual box office analysis, recent headline news and information on hot films such as <Gabi>, <Helpless> and <Love Fiction>.
