Korean Model-Turned-Actress Caps Off Busy in Hollywood

Jung Hoyeon, now referred to by the mononym Hoyeon, of Squid Game fame has landed her next part - a starring role in Academy Award-winning director Alfonso Cuarón’s upcoming Apple TV+ series Disclaimer

The Korean model-turned-actress will act opposite Cate Blanchett (Carol), Kevin Kline (A Fish Called Wanda), Sacha Baron Cohen (The Trial of the Chicago 7) and Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Power of Dog) in the highly anticipated show.

Based on the novel of the same name by Renee Knight, the show will focus on the brilliant television documentary journalist Catherine Ravenscroft, played by Blanchett, who strives to expose corruption in long-standing and esteemed institutions. She is shocked to receive a novel written by a widower (Kline) that features her in a story she had hoped was buried and forgotten.

Hoyeon will appear as a character named Kim, described as ambitious, hardworking, and eager-to-please, who hopes to land her big break by working under Ravenscroft.

The last few weeks have been very notable for Hoyeon, who has spent much of March in Los Angeles, where she has been touring awards ceremonies with the cast and crew of Squid Game. Hoyeon earned the Best Actress in Drama Series Award from the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Best Actress in an Action Drama Award from the Critics Choice Super Awards.

The young star debuted on the screen in the Netflix smash hit Squid Game, from director Hwang Donghyuk, who was known for Silenced (2011), Miss Granny (2014) and The Fortress (2017).

One of Hollywood’s most respected filmmakers, director Cuarón has won the Best Director Award from the Academy Awards for both Gravity and Roma.
