KIM Yun-seok’s Directorial Debut ANOTHER CHILD Competes at HIFF

A total of nine feature films from Korea will be taking part in this year’s 39th Hawaii International Film Festival, which will take place from November 6 to 24. Taking part in the main competition section for the KAU KA HŌKŪ Award will be the affair drama Another Child, the acclaimed directing debut of veteran star KIM Yun-seok, best known around the world for roles in iconic Korean films such as The Chaser (2008), The Thieves (2012) and The Priests (2015).

HIFF’s lineup will also include BONG Joon-ho new film PARASITE, which became the first Korean film to win the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, LEE Sang-geun’s disaster comedy EXIT, the biggest local hit of the summer season, YOOK Sang-hyo’s popular comedy-drama Inseparable Bros with SHIN Ha-kyun and LEE Kwang-soo, Yong-su’s bromance Man of Men with CHO Jin-woong and SUL Kyung-gu, and the SON Yong-ho action-thriller The Bad Guys: Reign of Chaos with Don LEE (aka MA Dong-seok), the top-selling title of this year’s Chuseok Holliday season.

From the indie world, HIFF will feature KIM Jae-hwan’s documentary Granny Poetry Club, JEON Kye-soo’s melodrama Vertigo with CHUN Woo-hee, and PARK Hye-ryoung’s culinary documentary The Wandering Chef, which recently screened at the San Sebastian International Film Festival.
