First Joseon Era Drama for Director

Although director JANG Hun is currently busy gearing up for the release of his summer drama A Taxi Driver he has already set his next project, which will be an adaptation of the stage play Deliberation by LEE Youn-taek.

Deliberation, which was also adapted into a book, follows secret stories of King Sejong and JANG Yeong-sil, a famed Korean scientist and astronomer during the Joseon Dynasty in the early 15th century.

Getting his start under KIM Ki-duk, who wrote and produced his debut Rough Cut (2008), JANG went on to score box office hits with Secret Reunion in 2010 and the Korean War film The Front Line a year later. His latest work A Taxi Driver takes place during the 1980 Gwangju Democratization Movement and finds him teaming up with his Secret Reunion co-star SONG Kang-ho once more, as well as German actor Thomas Kretschmann. The Showbox-distributed film is due for release later this summer.

JANG will partner with the production company Hive Media Co-op, which worked on WOO Min-ho’s Inside Men and is currently filming WOO’s next work Drug King as well as the romantic comedy Wind Wind Wind.

Following the release of A Taxi Driver, Deliberation will begin pre-production and casting in earnest.
