KIM Myung-min Cast in Latest from Director HEO Jong-ho

K-pop star Hyeri from the band Girl’s Day is set to make her big screen debut in the Joseon Era period thriller Monster (working title), from director HEO Jong-ho. Joining her on screen will be veteran actor KIM Myung-min, new TV star KIM Min-suk and character actors KIM In-kwon and LEE Gyoung-young.
The film takes place in 1527, when the King of Joseon was compelled to move his palace due to a monster that appeared in his royal court. The film is the third work by director HEO, following Countdown (2011) and The Advocate : A Missing Body (2015).
Hyeri’s first film credit follows roles in a number of successful TV shows, including Reply 1988 and Entertainer. Longtime star KIM Myung-min’s recent credits include court drama Proof of Innocence (2016) and nuclear disaster drama Pandora (2016). He recently wrapped PARK Hoon-jung’s North Korea action-thriller V.I.P., which is due to be released later this year.
Known for his roles in popular TV dramas such as Descendants of the Sun, KIM Min-suk has yet to be seen on the big screen but will soon make his debut in the crime thriller A Special Lady with KIM Hye-soo.
The movie is being produced by TAEWON ENTERTAINMENT, which scored a hit last summer with the Korean War film Operation Chromite. Filming is expected to get underway in April.
