LEE Je-hoon to Star in PARK YEOL

Period drama specialist LEE Joon-ik is preparing his third consecutive biopic, after The Throne (2015) and DONGJU; The Portrait of A Poet, and his second film on the trot to take place during Korea’s time as a colony of the Japanese Empire. Young star LEE Je-hoon is set to take on the titular role in PARK Yeol.

PARK Yeol was the founder of the Heukdohwe anarchist group during the Colonial Era, a Korean independence group which sought to assassinate Japan’s Crown Prince Hirohito.

LEE Je-hoon rose to prominence in the industry after several major roles such as in the breakout indie Bleak Night (2011) and Korean War film The Front Line (2011). He shot up to the big leagues in 2012 with romantic drama Architecture 101 and following a break for military service, returned earlier this year as the lead in The Phantom Detective.

Director LEE has directed classics such as King And The Clown (2005) and following a brief hiatus after his ninth film Battlefield Heroes (2011), returned to box office glory with The Throne. Earlier this year he released his first indie production, the black-and-white DONGJU, which became another hit for the filmmaker.

Production on PARK Yeol is expected to begin in January and MEGABOX Plus M is on board as the local distributor.
