New Posters and Stills for Women’s Ice Hockey Drama
Looking to replicate the success of the 2009 original, Run off, a sequel to Take Off (2009) has set a release date in August, the busiest time of the year on the Korean film release calendar. As the Megabox Plus M title builds its summer marketing campaign, it has now released a set of stills and posters for the sports title.
Switching out the male sky jumping team for a female ice hockey one, this sports drama sequel pits an unlikely group of women athletes together, including a North Korean defector, a banned short track skater, a middle-aged woman and a middle school student, to form South Korea’s first national women’s ice hockey team.
Leading the cast will be actress Su Ae, who last appeared on the big screen in the influenza thriller The Flu in 2013. Her teammates will be played by Ode to My Father (2014) actress KIM Seul-ki and JIN Ji-hee of The Throne (2015), among others. Superstar character actor OH Dal-su, most recently seen in Veteran and Assassination in 2015, will play the team’s coach. My New Partner (2008) filmmaker KIM Jong-hyun, also a scribe on Mr. Go (2013), handles the director’s reigns.
The original which starred HA Jung-woo scored just over 8 million admissions in the high summer season of 2009, garnering over USD 48 million in ticket revenue.
