Thriller Invited to Fantastic Fest in NY State

JUNG Byung-gil’s Confession of Murder has been invited as the opening film of the upcoming Ithaca International Fantastic Film Festival, which will take place next month.

The popular Korean thriller drew just over 2.7 million spectators to screens late last year before receiving numerous invitations on the festival circuit, including to the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, where it was bestowed the Thriller Award. The film has been particularly popular in North America, having already screened at the New York Asian Film Festival and the Fantasia and Fantastic Film Festivals in Montreal and Austin, respectively. In addition, a remake of the film, which has sold widely in Asia and Europe, was also proposed in Hollywood during a forum in the Director’s Guild of America last winter.

In Confession of Murder, JUNG Jae-young plays a detective who was unable to catch a killer fifteen years ago. Once the statute of limitations expires, a young man publishes a book confessing to the crime, becoming an overnight celebrity. The detective, as well as the victim’s family members, now try to seek out the truth behind this dashing purported serial killer.

The Ithaca International Fantastic Film Festival, which takes places in a town in New York state, will unravel over November 13-17.
