CROSSROADS OF YOUTH Invited to Berlinale

Festival to Hold Special Screening for Oldest Surviving Korean Film

Next month, the Berlin International Film Festival will stage a special presentation of Crossroads of Youth, the oldest surviving Korean film. The 1934 feature, directed by AHN Jong-hwa, becomes the tenth Korean work to be invited to the 63rd edition of the prestigious festival.

What makes this screening particularly special will the orchestra, singers and traditional byeonsa narration that will accompany it. Director KIM Tae-yong (Memento Mori, Late Autumn) has put together this modern rendition of the classic film. His production has already been screened around the world, including Seoul, London, New York and Guadalajara.

The tale of romance, lust and betrayal will join other Korean films, such as Pluto, White Night, Fatal, Behind the Camera and HONG Sangsoo’s latest Nobody’s Daughter Haewon when the Berlin Film Festival takes place from February 7th to 17th.
