Invited to the Immersive Section, A&T LAB of Korea National University of Arts Produced the Film

A VR film, Red Eyes, produced by A&T LAB at the Korea National University of Arts, was invited to the 'Immersive ? All Around Cinema' section at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, the biggest film fest in Greece.

Red Eyes, directed by Professor Lee Seungmoo of the Filmmaking Department at the Korea National University of Arts and starring Kim Kangwoo and Lee Elijah, is a film about a special operation and hidden secrets of suicide commandos in the near future. This film is a full 3D 360 cinema and it aims to present a sense of urgency and emotions we can’t feel in ordinary movies, using bold camera work and CG, breaking away from the limitations of static virtual reality content. 

Red Eyes, which was invited to the film festival, also won the VeeR Audience Award at the VIFF Immersed section of the 40th Vancouver International Film Festival last year. Caitlin Burns, a programmer of the festival evaluated the film as ‘the most ambitious VR SF action movie of all time using live-action.” Red Eyes was also invited to the Imagine Film Festival this year, formerly known as Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival.  

The Thessaloniki International Film Festival in Greece was launched as a national film festival in the 1960s under the name ‘Greek Film Week’ and was reborn as an international film festival in 1992, including an overseas competition section. The festival, which marks its 63rd anniversary this year, opened on November 3 and runs for 10 days until November 13 in Thessaloniki, Greece.
