Shin Hyesun and Lee Junyoung Sign on for Webtoon Adaptation BRAVE CITIZEN
VOICE OF A MURDERER Director to Return with Action Film
Actress Shin Hyesun and rising actor Lee Junyoung, of the former boyband U-KISS, have signed on to appear in the upcoming action film Brave Citizen (translated title). Based on Kim Junghyun’s webtoon of the same name, the film will be helmed by veteran director Park Jinpyo.
Shin will star as So Simin, formerly a talented martial artist as a teenager but now a part-time teacher in high school. She hopes to land a permanent position at her school, but she finds it hard to stay out of trouble when she becomes the target of Han Soogang (Lee Junyoung), the school troublemaker. The webtoon is being adapted by The Uncanny Counter writers Yeo Jina and Hyun Chungryul.
Boasting almost ten years of credits, Shin Hyesun started to become known to wider audiences after her supporting role in the hit drama Stranger, but 2020 was her breakout year, when she led the legal film Innocence, appeared in the heist film Collectors, and took on the leading role in the smash-hit period drama series Mr. Queen.
Following the disbanding of U-KISS, Lee Junyoung has steadily been building up his filmography, which has included small roles in hit shows such as Backstreet Rookie and the Netflix series D.P. 2022 is shaping up to be a big year for the young actor, as he will also co-star in the upcoming Netflix Original film Moral Sense.
Active since Too Young to Die in 2002, Park Jinpyo scored his first major hit with the melodrama You Are My Sunshine in 2005. He went on to find more success with the thriller Voice of a Murderer (2007), the heartwarming drama Closer to Heaven (2009) and the romantic comedy Love Forecast (2015). He also produced the thriller Blood and Ties (2013).
