VR Short Film Commissioned by Samsung Electronics

While post-production is ongoing for his upcoming period drama Forbidden Dream, director HUR Jin-ho shot a new short film at the end of last month. Starring SHIN Ha-kyun, EXO member, SUHO and KIM Seul-ki, Present (translated title) is a VR project commissioned by Samsung Electronics.

Present is the second short film by Director HUR to be developed for Samsung’s VR app Relúmĭno, a visual aid application for people with low vision. The previous project was titled Two Lights: Relumino (2017). The 30-minute Gift will focus on the subject of thermal cameras in a story about research students and helpers.

Known around the world for Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002) and Save the Green Planet (2003), SHIN Ha-kyun was most recently seen in the hit comedy-drama Inseparable Bros earlier this year. Pop star SUHO stared in both One Way Trip (2016) and Student A (2018). Meanwhile, KIM Seul-ki was recently on the big screen in the period comedy Jesters: The Game Changers.

Director HUR is considered one of Korea’s preeminent melodrama filmmakers, having debuted with the classic romantic Christmas in August (1998). He is also known for One Fine Spring Day (2001), April Snow (2005) and The Last Princess (2016). HUR’s latest film, the period drama Forbidden Dream, stars HAN Suk-kyu and CHOI Min-shik and is currently awaiting release.
