Main Prize for YOON Ga-eun at 34th Ale Kino!

YOON Ga-eun’s feature debut The World of Us has triumphed at the International Young Audience Film Festival Ale Kino! in Poland, where it has earned the Golden Goat for Best Feature Film for Children at the festival’s 34th edition.

The win is the second consecutive main prize pickup for a Korean film, following KIM Sung-ho’s family drama How To Steal A Dog (2014), which also made away with the Grand Prize in 2015, as well as winning the Marcinek – Feature Film Prize and the Teacher’s Award.

The World of Us, which examines the complicated relationships between a trio of ten-year-old elementary school girls during their summer break, initially premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival, where it screened in the Generation section.

Director YOON’s film has earned several prizes on the international festival circuit, including Best Film and Best Child Actor from the Zlin Film Festival, and Audience Award from Tokyo Filmex. YOON is also racking up the prizes in Korea, with wins for Best New Director from the Blue Dragon Awards, the Buil Film Awards and the Korean Association of Film Critics Awards, as well as a Best Director accolade from the Women in Film Awards.

Prior to The World of Us, YOON was a very successful short filmmaker, with globally recognized works such as Guest (2011) and Sprout (2013).
