JANGSAN TIGER with YUM Jung-ah Eyes Summer 2016 Release

On the heels of his 2013 summer hit Hide and Seek, director HUH Jung is preparing his next feature, the horror Jangsan Tiger (transliterated title), which completed principal photography earlier this month. Featuring YUM Jung-ah and PARK Hyuk-kwon, the film is eyeing a summer release next year.

Said to inhabit the region south of the Sobaek Mountains, the Jangsan Tiger is a mythical creature with white hair that mimics human voices to lure them into danger and often takes children to the mountain. In the film, a couple loses thier child and tries to cope with their grief when the creature comes into their lives.

HUH said, "Jangsan Tiger means an alluring voice that no one can resist. This movie began with a story of someone who couldn't believe any of those voices boomed out from the darkness."

Despite going up against hits such as Snowpiercer and The Terror, LIVE, HUH’s debut became a surprise success in late summer two years ago, when it drew 5.6 million viewers (USD 34.18 million). The horror-thriller also earned him a Best New Director prize from the Korean Association of Film Critics Awards.

Star of KIM Jee-woon’s A Tale Of Two Sisters (2003) and more recently BOO Ji-young’s Cart (2014), YUM Jung-ah will take on the role of the mother while PARK Hyuk-kwon, a veteran actor from titles such as Chaw (2009) and The Client (2011) will appear as her husband. Their son is played by a new actor selected through open auditions.
