The 30th
Busan International Short Film Festival will be held at the Busan Cinema Center from May 2nd to 6th. The festival marks its 30th anniversary and will offer meetings with famous directors who showed their works through the festival. This year, the festival will present a total of 144 films (Competition: 67, Invitation: 74). Among the 67 films, 45 are foreign films. This means that the film festival is truly global.
The organizers selected
Laborer's Love by ZHANG Shichuan of China and
Condolences by YING Liang as the official opening films.
Laborer’s Love talks about a carpenter’s love story in the 1020s.
Condolences is about an elderly woman who loses her family in an accident. In the competition section,
A Society is noteworthy as it is a new film by Jens Assur who picked up the Best Film Prize in last year’s Busan International Film Festival.
The Window by
YEUN Sang-ho will be screened as well.
The King of Pigs by YEUN received good reviews from foreign critics in 2011. The 30th Homecoming Day Special Program will screen popular movies among prize winners of previous festivals such as
