Abuja Hosts Korean Cinema Quartet

Following its inception in 2010, the Nigerian Korean Film Festival closed out its 3rd edition on November 30th, returning to Abuja following its stint in Lagos for the fest’s 2nd edition. Guests were treated to a cross section of Korean cinema at free screenings held during the event, which began on November 27th.

The festival got underway with a cocktail reception at the Silverbird Cinema in Abuja. The event was attended by KWON Yong-ik, the head of Nigeria’s Korean Cultural Center, and CHOI Jong-hyun, Korea’s ambassador to Nigeria, as well as a number of other diplomats.

Following the reception were two consecutive screenings of the heartwarming soccer drama A Barefoot Dream, which was Korea’s official entry to the Oscars in 2010. The next days saw screenings for the CHA Tae-hyun's comedy Scandal Makers (2008), the wrestling comedy Like a Virgin (2006) and the period detective comedy-mystery DETECTIVE K : Secret of Virtuous Widow (2011).
