One day, strange numbers begin appearing in front of Ha-min whenever his mother sets a meal on the table. At first, he has no idea what they mean—but over time, he notices a chilling pattern: the number keeps dropping. He soon comes to believe the countdown is tied to his mother, Eun-sil, and that when it reaches zero, she will die.
 

Ha-min’s ordinary life is turned upside down. Determined to stop the countdown—whatever it really is—he starts avoiding his mother’s home-cooked meals, coming up with excuse after excuse, even as guilt and fear tighten their grip. The more he runs from the table, the more he’s forced to confront what those meals truly represent: love, time, and everything he stands to lose.
