KOFIC at Hong Kong FILMART

Special Effects, Sales and Production Companies Head to HK

The Korean Film Council (Chairman: KIM Eui-suk, KOFIC) participates regularly at the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART), one of the biggest Asian film markets. This year, FILMART will be held from March 24th to 27th at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. As Korea’s representative, three KOFIC representatives from Korea as well as one from the China office will be in attendance. KOFIC will provide meeting spaces for Korean film companies, as well as offer valuable information on Korean location shooting incentives and co-productions.

KOFIC will provide booth spaces for Korean sales companies and special effects companies. Within special effects companies, there will be ones that focus on make-up and props such as Yu-young Make-up and NamooWorkshop. For VFX, Dexter Digital Studio and Digital Idea will be attending, among others. As for sales companies, Daisy Entertainment, United Pictures, Indiestory and 9ers Entertainment will be stationed at the Korean booth in the convention center. K-Dragon Pictures is the only participating production company at the KOFIC booth.

The special effects companies will have promotional materials to expose their previous works and the technical services they can provide. International companies are invited to visit and consider working with these companies to receive top notch special effects services. KOFIC is happy to assist and discuss with companies considering co-producing with Korea and Korean companies and the benefits of such partnerships.

Within the KOFIC booths, sales companies are eager to show off their new line-ups. United Pictures will be bringing quite a few titles to Hong Kong, such as For the Emperor with LEE Min-ki, Good Friends with JI Sung, My Brilliant Life with GANG Dong-won and SONG Hye-kyo, and Big Match with LEE Jung-jae. Indiestory will be bringing the latest feature length Korean animation, The Satellite Girl and Milk Cow, as well as two titles currently in post production, Cat Funeral and Strangers on the Field.

Aside from the sales companies that will be located at KOFIC’s Korean Film Center other Korean sales companies are also coming with their big titles to Hong Kong. Notable companies include CJ Entertainment, Showbox/Mediaplex, Finecut and Lotte Entertainment.
